Welcome to my first blog!

Hello, I'm Vicki and I have already completed the OCA courses 'Introduction to Digital Photography' and 'Creative Digital Arts'. (both of which I have passed:-)

I am now enrolled on 'The Art of Photography' and intend to record here my progress throughout the course , not only evidencing work done on projects/assignments but also showing my thoughts and inspirations along the way.

Project 53: fluorescent lighting

Here are a few of the images I took for the project on fluorescent lighting using different white balance settings. I only had my compact camera available for these with a choice of 'halogen' setting with no separate options for tungsten/fluorescent.

Auto white balance has worked very well and is how I remember the scene although it was probably nearer the 'halogen WB' image

Auto white balance but with flash - image appears too 'warm'

Daylight WB - again too yellow

Halogen WB setting - cooler cast. I prefer the auto white balance image.

Auto white balance

Daylight white balance

Halogen white balance - still quite a strong colour cast - the auto white balance works better.
When using my main DSLR camera I tend to take photos in RAW and on auto white balance. I then have the option to change the white balance/colour temperature later.
